This online resource, titled "The Internet Bird Collection joins the Macaulay Library – Macaulay Library," is a website dedicated to showcasing a vast collection of bird species data. The website's founder, Josep del Hoyo, a doctor from Spain, embarked on a journey to Africa in the early 1980s to observe wildlife and was disappointed with the inadequacy of existing field guides. Upon returning, he was unable to find a comprehensive bird identification resource and decided to create one himself. He founded Lynx Edicions in 1989 and launched the Handbook of the Birds of the World the same year. The website, ibc.lynxeds.com, is a part of this extensive project and features multimedia content including photos and audio recordings of various bird species.
